Finding the Shed

As I was climbing to the top of the Wheel Stones, in the Peak District another runner passed by below, where'd he come from I wondered? Even though I find it hard to pass rock without climbing it, I still get envious when someone overtakes/gets ahead of me! It's not a race, I don't know where or how far he's come but all I know is I need to get off the top of this rock and catch him up.

By the time I get down and find my map, I'd left at the bottom I'm after him. It's not a race, I don't know where or how far he's come but all I know is I need to and catch him up.

Having a target in front of me is always a good thing, it gives me an adrenalin rush and focuses my concentration. He's probably got near on half a mile on me but I'm fresh and keen to hunt. It's not a race, I don't know where or how far he's come but all I know is I need to put one foot in front of the other and catch him up.

I get within 30 metres of him and ease off slightly, I don't want to seem out of breath when I pass him do I! Heaven forbid that he'll be rude enough to challenge me and pick the pace up. No, I'll just hold off a bit and assess his form. It's not a race, I don't know where or how far he's come but all I know is I need to think about my passing tactics and catch him up.

Knee length baggy shorts, a day sack that Bill Oddy would be proud of and a running style resembling a mildly excited Hippopotamus. It's not a race, I don't know where or how far he's come but all I know is my quarry is an easy target and I need to catch him up, let's do it...

From Hope he says in reply to my question. The next answer I don’t grasp, or I do and refuse to comprehend it. Derwent Watershed, 42 miles he says again. I quickly decide not to skip passed and disappear into the distance Road Runner style (Beep Beep)! After an on route interrogation I find out the basic facts of the Derwent Watershed and instantly know that's my next big run.

It's not a race, I don't know where or how far I can go but if he can do it so can I!!!
