HAIL THE SECOND COMING OF SPARTA! AS THEY DID ONCE BEFORE, AN ARMY OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY RUNNERS SHALL ASSEMBLE. ONCE AGAIN, THE FINEST RUNNING CLUBS OF THE NORTH WEST AND LOCAL LONE WOLVES SHALL STAND SIDE BY SIDE. AS ONE WITH SPARTA, YOU WILL SERVE A DEADLY BLOW TO ALL OF PERSIA. OVER ONE MILLION FOOTSTEPS WILL POUND THE EARTH THAT LIES BENEATH, BEFORE IT MAKES BLOODY SACRIFICE TO THE SWORD OF LUCIFER. MAY YOUR SPEED BE THE RHYME OF THE UNHEARD. MAY THE SOUND OF 300 FOOTSTEPS BE YOUR GUIDE. THE DESTINY OF TEN THOUSAND AWAITS AT MANLEY SPRING FAIR. A 10K TRAIL RUN WITHIN DELAMERE FOREST. BRAVE RUNNERS WILL RACE FROM MANLEY VILLAGE HALL FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE ON THE SURFACE WE CALL R**D BEFORE ENTERING THE FOREST AND ON TO FAST FIRE ROAD AND TECHNICAL TRAILS ON A MARKED ROUTE THAT WILL TAKE YOU INTO THE DEPTHS OF DESPAIR BEFORE RETURING VIA THE SAME R**D AND BACK TO THE FAIR, WHERE A WARRIORS REWARD AWAITS.

Manley Spring Fair 6th May 2019

The Race is to be run as part of the Manley Spring Fair and will start and finish at Manley Village Hall, Tarvin Road, Manley, Cheshire WA6 9EL.

Visit Manley Spring Fair on Facebook to see what’s on offer at this well established local May Fair which has taken place in Manley for over 20 years. The monies raised from the Fair go towards funding the local churches, Village Schools and various other local community groups and clubs. This year the main attractions at the fair will be a Falconry Display, a climbing wall, a Chainsaw Sculpter, the Dog Show, Football competition between the local village schools, a magic show, Face Painting, an inflatable obstacle course, Maypole Dancing, a Jazz Band from Helsby High School, plus food will be served in the Village Hall from the BBQ. There will be many traditional games such as ’Splat the Rat’, ‘Beat the Buzzer’, a coconut shy and many more. There will also be stalls selling goods such as local apple juices, cheeses, fudge, Locally made pies, plants, cakes, greetings cards and wood crafts plus much more. There is something for all ages.

Entrance to the Fair is £5 (race competitors get Free entry) and FREE to accompanied children. Car Parking is FREE.

Race Start Times:

Children’s Race: 11:30 am – free entry on the day for a short race on closed roads starting and finishing at the Village Hall. All runners will receive a medal

Main Race 12:30pm

Race to be run under UKA rules and insurance with Race Permit from the Trail Runners Association. Last date for entry –1st May Car Parking – Please follow signage for Runners Parking

Race route decription:

10k. The route is a technical run and should only be undertaken by those used to running off road on uneven surfaces. Participants – open to Club runners and those with experience/confidence to run Trail

Race will be timed – Timing will be from the gun only and results will be published as soon as possible after the event

Race categories – Male, Female and Local Resident Male and Female

Prizes – 1st, 2nd and 3rd in M and F category. 1st in M & F for local resident - living within Manley and adjoining parishes and not being a member of a Running Club.
All Adult runners to receive a bottle of locally produced beer
All children to receive a medal


Entry Costs -

Childrens Race: free entry

Adult Race: £10 for those runners not being a member of a UKA affiliated Club. £8 for those that are a member of a UKA affiliated Club.
Refreshments: A bottle of water for each runner.
